What I Say Is What I See

In Proverbs 18:21, the Bible tells us, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” What we say holds tremendous power, shaping not only our reality but also the world around us.

The Bible is replete with reminders about the significance of our words. In James 3:5-6, we read, “Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body.” Here, we are reminded that our words can either build up or destroy. They can bring hope or despair, healing or hurt.

As Christians, we are called to be the light in the darkness, to speak life into our situations and the lives of those around us. In Romans 4:17, it says, “As it is written: ‘I have made you a father of many nations.’ He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” By our faith and spoken words, we can call forth the things that are not yet seen into existence. We can declare healing, prosperity, and peace, believing that God will bring it to pass.

Let us take inspiration from Jesus Himself, who demonstrated the power of His words. In Mark 11:23, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” When we speak in faith, without doubting, we can move mountains in our lives.

Dear friends, let us be mindful of the words we speak. Let us be encouragers, edifiers, and bearers of hope. Let us speak life and not death, blessings and not curses. As it is written in Ephesians 4:29, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

In conclusion, let us embrace the power of our words, knowing that “What I Say Is What I See.” Let us declare God’s promises over our lives and the lives of others, believing that He will bring them to fruition. May our words reflect our faith, our hope, and our unwavering trust in the Lord.
